Bamatamb Family Pictures June 2012

We desperately needed some new family pictures (the one we have hanging on our wall now was taken when Miles was only 10 months old!).  We got these taken in June and I really love the way they turned out.  The kids all cooperated and the weather & lighting were beautiful.  Here are my favorites.  (Now the really hard part is going to be choosing which ones to print!  It's so nice to be able to blog/scrapbook as many as I want, but I can't frame and hang that many! :)  Anyway, here they are!

*update:  For some reason they look a little bit blurry on the blog...but if you click on a picture it opens up clearer and then you can scroll through all of them there.*

Terry Reunion

The Terry Family Reunion was this weekend near Heber City.  We went up Friday evening and Bree was getting pretty tired of the ride.  She was crying and signing "all done" before we were to Park City so we decided to stop and put her in her new forward-facing carseat (she is over 20 pounds, and 1 year old, but we just haven't switched her yet because now they're saying to keep babies rear-facing until they're 2 years old....but that's awfully hard when their legs are getting so long that they jam into the seat.)  Anyway, after we switched she was all smiles!  She thought looking out at the road was awesome!
Friday night we hiked around the beautiful mountains above Heber City.
Saturday we had games and crafts for the kids.  Here is Bree in her crazy headband.
After lunch we went to the lake for a canoe ride.  Here we are just starting out.  (Bree really liked it at first...)
Bryan did most of the rowing/steering, but Tess and Miles also took turns rowing.  They thought it was pretty fun.  (I, sitting in front of them, got pretty wet with the splashing from their oars!)
I let Bree crawl around the front of the canoe.
But, unfortunately, she was ready to get out after not very long (signing "all done" some more...)  I think she really hates the life-jacket squishing up around her face and neck.  So Bree and I got out and played on the beach instead.

It was a fun reunion and the kids loved playing with their cousins!  We learned more about Bryan's ancestors and got to know his extended family a little bit better.  We got out of town just as a gigantic rain storm started; glad we left when we did!

Locks of Love

Tess has been asking for a haircut for a while now.  She hates sitting still while I fix her hair, but it's long enough that it's hard for her to fix it herself.  It's always very tangled because she's so active and busy, and she is upside down (cart-wheeling, flipping on the monkey bars, back-handspringing, etc.) as much as she's right-side-up!  So, we decided to cut enough off so that we could donate it.  She is really excited to know that her hair will be used for wigs for cancer patients.  I am very proud of her too!  She looks fantastic with her cute new 'do. Here are a few photos...

Welcome Flutter a.k.a. Stripes

The kids found a caterpillar several weeks ago and put it in Tess's bug catcher.  We did this once before with 2 caterpillars who turned into moths within just a few days of each other and it was really cool.  Then we tried it AGAIN, but the caterpillar just died...  So with this one we weren't setting our hopes too high, in case it died.  But, after being in the cocoon for a very long time...(Bryan and I both thought he had died, and we both almost just threw him away)...I saw this guy sitting in the bug catcher, among all the caterpillar poop--who knew that a caterpillar would poop so much?!

(It makes me wonder if the other guy that we did throw away last time really wasn't dead either--sometimes they sit in their dang cocoon a very long time!  Oops!)

The kids were so excited and gentle with the butterfly.  (It couldn't fly yet, so I think it had just barely emerged from the cocoon minutes before.)  It liked to crawl on the kids' arms.

I wanted Bree to see it, but Tess and Miles were very nervous that she would squish it.  I promised to keep her squishing fingers safely away from the butterfly that Miles named "Flutter" and Tess named "Stripes."

I told the kids that it probably needed to rest so we put it in the flower bed.  Then later, Tess came in and said that she taught it how to fly.  When I asked more about that, she said that she carried it to the top of the playhouse and threw it out.  (ummm....so much for being gentle with it!)  Poor guy.  I hope he survived the fall.  That's the last I've seen or heard from him.  It sure was fun though, while it lasted!
