Halloween 2015

Halloween was fun this year.  Here are Bree and me, waiting in the school cafeteria for the Halloween Parade to come through.

The kids come zooming in pretty fast so my pictures are usually blurry but the kids all look so cute!  Tess was the Bride of Frankenstein this year.  I didn't even want to attempt to fix her hair like the Bride of Frankenstein so I just bought a wig and costume off Amazon and it was great.

Miles was Spiderman!

Bree had a costume party at preschool too!  She had been planning on being a cheerleader but changed her mind to a witch at the last minute because she said she wanted to be something spooky.  Luckily our next-door neighbor had a witch costume for Bree to borrow.

I don't usually dress up, but I found this wig for cheap at Target after Halloween last year.  I decided to throw it on for fun.

In my last post I lamented the fact that Bree won't look at the dang camera!  And when I say, "Bree, look at the camera!  Look at my phone!"  She always says, "I am, Mom!"  Here are a few of my attempts at taking her picture before Trick-or-treating.

At this point I told her she wouldn't get to eat any candy if she didn't look at the camera...

So she was looking, but not really smiling.
I think I stressed her out... I'm a meanie mom!

It was Bryan's turn to stay home and hand out candy so I went around with the kids.  We decided that this year Tess was old enough to go around with her friends alone!  That's a big rite of passage I think.  But, bless her heart, she said she preferred to go with me!  Daaah, that made me happy!  So she and her cute friends walked around with me, Miles, and Bree.  It was a great night.

Hooper Haunt

Our little Hooper City holds a "Hooper Haunt" every year on the Saturday before Halloween.  Each year it gets a little bit bigger and more interesting.  The first year or two it was just a bunch of luminary bags (paper sacks that are decorated and then candles are placed inside to light them up) and a free cookie.  Meh.  Then they added some fun pumpkin displays (a little like the Pumpkin Walk in North Logan).  Better.  Then they added a haunted house.  Fun!  They they added pumpkin carving/decorating stations and interactive photo shoots with props.  Lots of fun!

When we went this year we actually decided to just go through really quickly right before it started--it is held at the park and it's free, so nobody could really stop us from coming early.  We wanted to avoid the crowds and the cold and then get home to complete our "Back to the Future" marathon that we started a few weeks ago.  The kids loved the 1st movie, thought the 2nd was weird (don't we all think that?), and we were anxious to go watch the 3rd.  So we zipped through the photo spots and headed on home to Doc and Marty.  Here are our pics:

I love how the kids made faces.  Here they are floating heads in jars...

Tess holding up 3 photo props at once!  Talent!

Our little princess...  (She is having issues lately with looking AT the camera!  She has had her picture taken a million times in her life, but just recently she has started looking away.  She'll pose cute and smile, and then look off to one side and it's driving me nuts!)

This one's probably my favorite!

I kept expressing frustration at Bree's inability to look at the camera (seriously I snap probably 10 pictures of the same pose to get ONE where she's looking!) and so Bryan decided to be like her in these...
 ...here's a cute one though.

Red Ribbon Week

For Red Ribbon Week at school they had "theme" days where the kids could dress up each day.  I only managed to get pics of 3 days; I'm missing bright/neon clothes day and favorite team jersey day.  But here are the 3 I did get:

1- Crazy Hair Day.  Miles was plaid and Tess was striped.

2-Western Wear Day.  They looked so cute in their bandanas and button-up shirts & jeans.  Unfortunately I was not prepared with cowboy hats, so we dug these old dollar-store ones out of the dress-up bin.  They were on the bottom of the dress-up bin, but you probably guessed that already...  they've seen some better days!

3- Mis-matched/Ridiculous outfits Day.  They had fun picking out the craziest clothes they could put together.

Farm Field Trip

Bree's class had a field trip to a farm this week.  She got to see goats...

...and feed them.  She really hated the fact that when she fed them, it left her hand slobbery/snotty.  I don't blame her!  She just kept wiping her hand on her pants and didn't want to feed them anymore.  I suggested she could just hold the cup up for them to eat out of but the first time she tried it the goat bumped it right out of her hand.  Goat-feeding-fail.  Oh well!
There were also chickens and cows...
...and cute little ponies to ride.
 She did like that part!
At the end the kids were able to pick a pumpkin to take home.  I think that was her favorite part!
Here is wonderful Teacher Julie with her 2 classes.   (I think every single girl chose pink for her Wisebird t-shirt color!)

WSU Physics Open House 2015

We went to the Physics open house at Weber State again this year.  I took the kids last year and they really liked it, so this year we went again and Bryan was able to join us this time.  First they made and shot off paper rockets.  Unfortunately Bryan helped Tess wrap hers a little too tightly and it wouldn't go off the launcher!

Then they did a water balloon catapult.  After that they went over and stood in a human sized bubble.  Pretty fun!

Then we went in for a presentation from a Physics professor.  It was pretty interesting.  He was a funny guy.  His whole life's work has been to figure out why and how cats always land on their feet.  Apparently he is famous for figuring it out.

Then we went upstairs to play with electrical circuits.  The kids were most excited about doing the connection that made an annoying buzzer go off.  All throughout the room the buzzer kept going off again and again.  What is it about noise that kids love so much?

We went to rooms that had hands-on projects about lasers, light, air flow, and then magnets to end the night.  Really fun!
