2012 Kidisms

Once again, here is a post of the whole year's worth of my sidebar "Kidisms"--things my kids say. Most are funny, some are very sweet, and each one is something that I never want to forget about my little kids.

January 2012
Miles told me that he loves me "one hundred and a million hearts of love!"

Bryan calls deodorant "goppo-stoppo" as a joke, so the kids call it that too. So, when Bryan brought home a box of Gobstoppers candy, the kids keep asking for "gopper-stoppers." Ha!

me: Miles, don't eat your boogers. That's gross!
Miles: I wasn't! I was just eating snot.

April 2012
At a field trip to a farm today, Miles got to ride on a horse. I told him that he was a cowboy! When he got down, he paused and then said, "So, uh....what does a horse boy do? Does he ride a cow?"

May 2012
Miles said to me today, "I'm almost a dad" and I replied, "Oh, really? How come?" He said, "because I like to tease so much!"

Miles was begging for something and said, "Please? Pretty please? With a cherry on top? And ice cream, and chocolate, and an extra brain?" ???

June 2012

Tess was mentioning that she wondered if she had more of my genes or more of Bryan's genes. Miles piped up from the back seat, "I have one of Daddy's shirts!" (He used one of Bryan's dress shirts as his graduation gown.) Ha!

Miles still has some funny mispronunciations; he's changing short vowels into long vowels: hotel is "ho-tail," canal is "ca-now-l, and treadmill is "tread-meal."

As we were driving past Salt-Air tonight, Tess said "MOM! Look! It's a GIANT bouncy house!!"

August 2012

In the past we've caught caterpillars and watched them build cocoons and turn into moths....so the other day when Tess caught a frog and put it in that same "bug catcher" container, Miles said excitedly, "I wonder if this frog will turn into a butterfly!!"

After riding Rattlesnake Rapids at Lagoon, Miles said, "I am the SOAKEST of all!" (and he was, indeed, the soakest. :) I ended up the soakest of all from the Log Flume though!)

September 2012

Miles was playing with a football and asked me why they call the game "football." I said that they kick the ball a lot (which, really, they mostly don't kick it...they mostly throw it or run with it, but whatever...) and then Miles replied, "you know what they should call 'football?' They should call soccer 'football!'" Good idea my boy; most of the world agrees with you!

At Tess's school, I guess the kids all say when they're going to play against someone at something (i.e. tetherball) they say they're going to "verse" them. So, when it's Tess versus Daddy at our backyard tetherball pole, Tess says she is going to verse him. Weird, huh?

October 2012

Miles cracks me up...he's been watching the old cartoon "Transformers" and when it sings "more than meets the eye" he has confused the words so he walks around singing "Transformers, and the meetsy eye." I'm just waiting for him to ask me what a meetsy eye is.

November 2012

Bree is starting to say lots and lots of words. Here are a few favorites:

Jacket= jackie

Sock= hockey

Woof woof= fooh fooh

Binkie= Dah-dah (but Daddy=Daddy!)

Take this thing that I'm handing you= doo

Pretty= pippy

Bree has a new favorite food: pistachios, which she charmingly calls "peetoes"
