Bryan's company holds their annual Christmas Party up at Snowbird Ski Resort each year. They are generous enough to put all the couples up in hotel rooms there at the resort, so it is always a fun get-away for us. They have a funny slide show of pictures of ES3 employees from the past year (last year they showed pictures of both Bryan and ME--I was pulling a stupid face for the camera at the previous year's party. I didn't expect them to show that for the whole room of 200ish people... yeah, I felt pretty stupid and have since tried to smile prettily for pictures instead of sticking out my tongue and crossing my eyes for pictures!)
After the slide show is the food. The food is yummy and they have LOTS of it. Something new and super scrumptious this year was a waffle-donut thing (they use donut dough, but they pour it into a waffle maker to cook it) and then they dip it in glaze and put whipped cream and fruit on top. It's like a Krispy Kreme and a Belgian waffle combined--delicious!!
The main part of the night is a game show. They've done "ES3 Idol," "ES3's Got Talent," and "Minute to Win It." Bryan is too much of an introvert (his word, not mine. My word might be "Enginerd.") to sign up for any game. But this year's game was "Family Feud" and I told him he had to sign us both up. You can't look like too much of a fool playing Family Feud, right? I thought surely we'd be on the same team, but nope, there were actually 5 guys from work on one team and all their wives on the opposing team (there were actually 8 teams in 4 different rounds, but we did play against each other during our round.) I really wanted to win...but alas, we did not. The guys "stole" our points after we got 3 strikes. blurgh. Oh well, it was a lot of fun and luckily we got some prize money no matter which team won!
Here we are in front of the ice sculpture. Every year they have an ice sculpture, and every year it's a little bit bigger and more impressive. This year's was a big joke because it was supposed to be huge and amazing, and they said it weighed 3000 pounds, so a guy that Bryan works with built a special, super strong, platform to set it on, yadda, yadda, yadda, and then the company who made the sculpture completely blew it and arrived about 2-3 hours late (it finally showed up after dinner), and then when they set it up, they put the company logo backward--the "ES3" part, but when they "fixed" that, the world part was backwards so Florida is on the West Coast. Ha! Oh well, at least with an ice sculpture nothing's permanent, right?
